Today I'm organizing my bookshelves and its too the point where books are stacking up, some are in the garage and some are in my storage.
So, I have to really look at what I want to keep and what I need to throw away. The first books that I have thrown out are Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator books (AP 4 and 5, AI 6) and Macromedia Flash 2 and 3 books.
The majority of my books are business, art, entertainment and political related and also Japanese language and culture and I know I have a good sized cookbook collection. My wife's book are primarily fiction and books that relate to childbirth or toddler.
But outside of the older technology-related books that I don't mind throwing out... It's just about what to throw out.
I have to say that if tonight’s episode of “Battlestar Galactica” was the series finale, I would have felt a bit cheated.
For three years or so, we have watched the war against the cylons and the group trying to find a way back home to Earth.
So, I quickly went online and read that there are 20 episodes but the remaining ten will not be aired
until Feb. 2009. That’s like eight months away.
The group are already done filming the series but at a recent report from Dragon Con posted on aintitcool.com, even the stars aren’t too thrilled of Sci-Fi channel delaying the series. As one of the main actor’s of the show said, by splitting the series into two, they are getting another season for the price of one.
It’s understandable that with the Olympics coming up, there are no Summer episodes. I understand that with Fall competition of new episodes to be shown, that they didn’t want to compete. But eight months to wait and find out what happens?
Grr….
I thought it was so cool of Jessica Alba to take part in a "ibeatyou" (dot com) competition and this one is ala a staring contest. Can you beat Jessica Alba...no blinking!
I have been playing "What's up People?" by Maximum the Hormone over and over... Love the "Death Note" anime series and dig the song!
Gets me revved up during this work week!
I spent last week finishing up my book and then this weekend finishing up the layout for an article for my writer and photographer.
So to unwind, I've been getting into video gaming a lot...to de-stress. Sleeping pattern is now much better and I am able to sleep again in a usual pattern. I swear March and early April was so difficult with the lack of sleep but I'm glad things are good again. Before I go to bed, I spend the late hours playing NBA Street on the XBOX 360. It's interesting how many years have past and I really haven't played the 360. Yes, I even waited outside of Wal-Mart to buy it on launch day...hehe. But I've been getting into the whole achievements thing...and now I know why people are addicted to it. Achievements rock and gives me the added incentive to purchase a 360 version over another console version.
But still, I don't want to spend $60 on a next gen game. So, the big 25% off sale at Gamestop to the Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale was quite nice. I was able to catch up on games that I wanted. As for "NBA Street", it was a clearance item at Target for $14.99. I enjoy a lot of gaming and typically RPG's or Japanese-style of gaming... but I enjoy sports games and this one was very fun. Finally beat it last night. There are probably three more achievements that I will try to get next...but all in all I'm starting to understand the whole enjoyment of XBOX 360 achievements.
Hell Week starts this week for work...busy again.
Ahh...the week begins and it's "Hell Week", the busy times of my business and when I'm pretty much working on a magazine through Tuesday or Wednesday but this week, have two total deadlines.
Last Wednesday, went to the doctor and as expected, knew that I had some respiratory virus. I couldn't swallow and it was getting worse, so the doctor gave me some antibiotics and some medicine and sure enough, I feel much better now.
As for the sleeping, I managed to sleep well but I'm actually noticing something. When my two little dogs sleep with me (bare in mind they are shitzu's), one of them snores too loud and worse, he has this habit of licking his paws so loudly, it gets to my nerves. Granted, I wear ear plugs but I don't want to keep wearing them especially because of them.
Unfortunately, put them in the garage...they scratch and bark and since they don't really sleep in the garage, I gave away the dog house I bought. I could have them sleep in my son's bed but the same situation...they would scratch on the door. But I'll probably try that tonight. It'll probably work since my son can sleep through anything.
Ok...back to work....will post later today.
After Friday/Saturday's double-punch of insomnia, as mentioned before, I was getting sick. But from Sunday-Wednesday, I had a sore throat that never gotten better and was worried because with gargling hot water/salt, drinking hot tea and lemon to chloraseptic, I can get rid of it quickly. But not this time and I was so worried that I had to visit the doctor and see if I have strep throat.
I've not had that since I was a kid and so, they took a culture sample and diagnosis was negative but they prescribed to me a five-day anti-biotic and some medicine. And today, I can tell it's going away....so, happy.
I've not been able to drink hardly anything in the last four days or eat anything but sugarless jello.
I guess, if I had to look at things positively, it would be that I lost an additional ten pounds through stress and hardly eating.
But now I need to get prepared for Hell Week. A two week intense workload that will last through the 15th.
Eli Stone moment and I'm starting to hear Lovesong by the Cure play in my mind. Gotta go!
Keeping myself busy but after seeing the CNN report of dozens of people injured by the fireworks at Wrestlemania, I remembered that Ric Flair was in a match that if he loses, he retires.
I just saw the video of him saying goodbye to his fans and also how he was treated by friend Shawn Michaels after the match.
For anyone who grew up with around watching pro wrestling, even as a kid, would remember what this guy has contributed to that industry and unfortunately, there it seems in the last decade, there have only been a handful who have had the charisma and ego as Flair and now, one of the legends has completed his wrestling career.
Goodbye Ric Flair! Thanks for many years of entertaining us and I will always remember this match and that match between you and Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat.
One of the things that I enjoy about this blog compared to the other ones is that it's not tied to the entertainment website I run, so in a way, it's nice to post things and people directly with the other site would ask me questions regarding that site.
Also, the freedom to discuss everyday things...it's somewhat liberating.
But right now, having never really perused VOX, I figured maybe is a good time to check out other blogs and add people I don't know. To read posts of people that may make me smile, make me wonder, make me thing, make me scratch my head or even make me shed a tear.
I've always told friends I disliked reading blogs. I like promoting and posting the information. But if I'm going to embrace this culture of blogging about personal things, why not learn from the people who take their time and effort to post these.
So, I'll be adding people to the neighborhood and hopefully learn to be a better blogger and not type about lack of sleep.
Because heaven knows we all need more sleep.
